Elizabeth Wright
Elizabeth is interested in how education programs prepare pre-service teachers to engage their students in scientific discourse. Embedded in this broader topic are several questions that are of particular interest to her, including:
- How pre-service teachers connect evidence of student learning to their teaching practices and how that conversation in turn informs changes in their practice
- How student-teacher relationships impact student learning outcomes
- How pre-service and novice teachers use one-on-one and small group conversations to encourage and scaffold full-class discussion
Elizabeth earned a BA in Biology from Northern State University and completed all of the coursework for a Masters in Public Health before changing careers and becoming a teacher. Known to her friends and former students as Biz, she taught middle school science for seven years in Weston, MA. Biz is a first year doctoral student who entrusted the care of her Red Sox season’s tickets to her friends while embarking upon this academic adventure and misses Fenway almost as much as she misses her friends, family and former students.
