Sara Hagenah
Sara Hagenah is the research assistant for the Advancing Ambitious Equitable Teaching Practices grant, a Ph.D. student in science education at the University of Washington, and a Science Education Professor at Antioch University Seattle. Her research interests involve the intersection between ambitious and equitable science teaching. Specifically, she is interested in how teachers connect rigorous science to students’ lived experiences in classroom talk. Sara hopes to improve science education by pushing the boundaries on how teachers can help students see how science is relevant to and part of their daily lives.
Sara taught high school biology and middle school science in New York and Washington State before teaching teacher candidates at Antioch University Seattle. She graduated from The University at Buffalo with a Master’s degree in Secondary Science Education, The College at Brockport: State University of New York with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, and is a National Board Certified Teacher in Science/Early Adolescence.
